  • “Mashhad” is the second-largest metropolitan area in Iran, and the capital of the north-eastern province of “Khorasan” with an estimated population of more than 2.2 millions
  • Mashhad metro is a rapid transit system and began its operation in March 2011. This system has two lines and 32 stations. The metro of Mashhad was named the second rapid transit system in Iran
  • Mashhad's "Urban Railway" is a completely segregated light rail system with the use of low-floor rolling stock manufactured by CNR Changchun. An 18 Km line connecting eastern parts of the city to western parts has been operated with 22 stations, of which about 9 km and 11 stations are underground
